The 2007 Tubs Ball took place on Saturday 16th June in the Royal British Legion and as usual the hall was packed to capacity.
The Committee met at 8.02pm to cast their votes for the 2007 Tub, bringing an end to this ancient ritual. As from 2008 the Tub Elect will be selected by the people.
To cast your vote for the 2008 Tub you will have to be at the Tubs Ball on picking night. This change in policy has been brought about by a forward thinking Committee.
At 11.52pm Chairman Cuthbert brought the thronging crowd to bear as he introduced ex-Tub Cuthbert I to make the most important announcment of 2007.
As Vicky made her speech you could of heard a trapped fart being released at 100 paces as the crowd awaited the news with baited breath.
When ex-Tub Cuthbert announced that Martin`Jarvis`Pearson would have the honour of being the 2007 Tub, the crowd went radged. Tub Elliot 2006 handed over the Flag and was first to offer his congratulations, and everyone agreed that Jarvis was the `Perfect Tub`
As the news spread that Jarvis had been selected as The 2007 Tub, share prices in Strongbow rose by 15% on the London Stock Exchange bringing the price to an all time high as sales were expected to go through the roof at this years Common Riding.
We all wish Martin and his Flake, Hayley, well with their Official Duties for the coming year and also for their Wedding on the 14th of July. This will be a first for Copshaw Common Riding, never before has a Serving Tub and his Flake taken their vows.
