To comply with the 1974 Health & Safety Act the Copshaw Common Riding Committee have carried out a risk assessment after a potential hazard was identified at the 2004 Common Riding, when 2 bikes rolled back into the crowd and nearly spilt Johnny Hay`s pint.
Common Riding Health & Safety Officials have been working with Scottish Borders Coonsul in order to overcome ` The Risk` at the Fountain and have installed several `Anti-roll back Clamps` (see Fig.1)
If you or The Committee regard your mount as a potential `Roll Back Risk` there must be a blue ribbon attached to the rear of the bike and the bike secured to the Anti-Roll Back Clamp for the period that the parade is at the Fountain.
